We won the audience voting at the
Battle of Birdys friday nite but one judge didn't like us so we ended up
getting second place overall. We did advance, however, and we will play
again October 12th. We're hoping to bring along as many of you as possible
for this one so get in contact with me if you want to go.

battle of the bands and need your votes! Head over

I had lunch with
knigga yesterday and he informed me that he was disappointed that I don't
update the page very often anymore, so here we go.

Better Than Medicine is playing in the
Battle of Birdys this Friday at 11:50pm. The chances of anyone seeing
this in time to go to the show are probably slim though. It's a pretty big
show for us, the grand prize is $10,000 cash & some prizes. This is just
the first round, I'll let you know if we advance.

20 years ago today Bon Scott died. Although common folklore claims that pulmonary aspiration of vomit was the cause of Scott's death, the official cause was listed as "acute alcohol poisoning" and "death by misadventure".
I think "death by misadventure" is probably the best way to go, right? I know that'd be my choice.

I ran a
practice session with
Better Than Medicine yesterday for the first time
with everyone present. It went great, but I discovered
that my bass amp is not gonna cut it. I'm looking into
getting something with a little more power now.

After every flight, Qantas pilots fill out a form, called a
"gripe sheet", which tells mechanics about problems with the
aircraft. The mechanics correct the problems, document their
repairs on the form, and then pilots review the gripe sheets
before the next flight. Never let it be said that ground crews
lack a sense of humor. Here are some actual maintenance problems
submitted by Qantas' pilots (marked with a P) and the solutions
recorded (marked with an S) by maintenance engineers. By the
way, Qantas is the only major airline that has never, ever, had
an accident.

School is
starting this wednesday, I'm taking 2 classes - IT120, and Survey of
Calculus, but I may be able to test out of IT120, and move one to better
things. This would be very nice due to the fact that I'm limited to 2
classes per semester (15 credit hours per year).

Look for some new
photos in the photo section before too long, I have several of my house
that are ready to be put up, but I just haven't done it yet. Pics of the
car may have to wait until I can borrow the digital camera again.

Yay, site is back
up for the 3rd time, I doubt anyone is visiting at this point but oh well.
Things are going well at UE, we installed 500 IP Phones about a week or so
ago, that was pretty cool. Now that it's done we've been fine tuning it,
and setting up some phones that were missed. We're also getting ready for
the start of the school year the 27th I think...

admitted to UE as a student this fall, I'll be registering for classes
sometime in the near future.

Well, as you can
see I had the site back up sorta on the 22 of May, dunno if any of you
caught it, it wasn't up for long. It's back up now hopefully for good,
although not everything is working yet.

Nonfunctional
things as of now include, signing the guestbook, voting booth (although
you can see what's in the database already) voting in the donut or not
section, & searching for photos in the photo section. Basically everything
that requires input (apparently the rights to write data aren't setup
properly) Other than that it's back in working order the way it was the
week after VU graduation.
|

If you didn't
know yet, I did take the job offer at the University of Evansville, and
I'm finishing up my 5th week here now. I also am renting a house from UE
for a year after which I plan to buy my own. Things have been going very
well so far. So far I've worked on only 2 major projects, one setting up a
central management for all printers on Campus (83 so far). The other one
is documenting every port ID on campus as well as a name and phone #
associated with the room the port is in. So far we've (I have 2 student
workers helping me) documented approximately 4500 ports in the last week.
